More parking lot fun

Saturday I dropped Sue off at Pathmark (a.k.a. Crackmart for the high calibur of it’s patrons) and drove around in circles while she was shopping. This allowed me to observe and record some more asshattery in the parking lot.

This person thought they were special enough that they didn’t need to find a parking spot. Instead they just stopped the car in the middle of the road, got out, and left it there.

This person is extra special, since they felt it was perfectly fine to blow past me at 30+ mph in a parking lot, nearly taking out an old man carrying his groceries out of the store. Unfortunetly, I wasn’t expecting him and didn’t catch up until he had parked. Also, I’m not sure if you can tell, but he parked slanted across one and a hald spaces as well

Ahh, Pismo

I got a kick out of kennedye welcoming back his Pismo. I picked up a used Pismo from my old company, back when the .com layoffs resulted in a surplus of machines. It wasn’t my first Mac, but it was (and still is) my favorite. The sleek black design has a warm feel that isn’t matched by any Apple laptop since. I know I’m not the only one who considers that generation the pinnacle of laptop design. My Pismo served me well for several years until I found a titanium in the trash (seriously). Even then, the Pismo was still my main laptop (face it, a titanium isn’t really THAT much faster). A few months ago however, I went to turn it on and found a brick. Alas, the power connector finally had finally gave up the fight, and as of now I can’t get it to charge.

It still sits in my bedroom though, waiting for me.

Commuters See New Security at PATH Station

1010 WINS had a story on Tuesday about a DHS security test at the Exchange Place PATH station.

I personally don’t think that X-Ray machines and metal detectors are an effective security measure on public transit. What minor deterrent these measures may have are more then outweighed by the intrusion on our rights. I have refused to take the subway when asked to under go a bag search in the past, and hopefully it won’t come to that here, options to get cross the Hudson are rather limited.

I swung by, and at this point it seems like a random sample of people are being screened. I’ll try to get some pictures of the setup before this test ends.
