The story goes like this, someone leaked pictures of the updated Sony Ericsson p910i and pretty much all the gadget blogs ran it, including Gizmodo. Well, SE got their panties in a bunch and slapped Gizmodo (and others) with Cease and Desist letters. Here’s where it get’s fun. One of the reasons for removal claimed in the C&D is the fact that the image is clearly marked “confidential”. Well Gizmodo, following their of policy publishing leaks, keeps the images up and publishes the C&D letter along with a well done reprimand to SE and other big companies to think about the reaction before flexing their legal muscle. It gets even better though since the C&D letter itself stated that it was confidential. You guessed it, that prompted another letter from SE, which was in turn published.

I admire Gizmodo for sticking to their guns and I’m interested to see what comes of this. Will SE learn their lesson and stop before they do irreperable damage to their reputation?
