Goodbye Menalto. Hello, zOOm.

You may have noticed a difference in the Gallery. I have switched from the menalto gallery package to zOOm gallery. I’ve used menalto for years and it has served me well, however I wanted a few features that it did not provide. One was search integration. I received some code for a searchbot for menalto gallery, but it’s still a work in progress, and I don’t have the time to debug it right now. zOOm is also a native mambo component, so integration is just easier.

One thing to be aware of, you can no longer click an image to get the ful size version. Instead you can add the image (or a whole gallery) to what is called the lightbox. Think of the lightbox like your shopping cart. Once you have the image you want in the lightbox, you can download the full size image in one convient zip file.

Nothing is perfect though so please let me know if you come across any bugs

We’re crawling!

One day after he figured out how to attain verticality, Tylor has achieved locomotion! Yup, he can crawl. We knew it was coming since he’s been trying for the past few weeks. You could watch him try different things and get frustrated when they didn’t work. First he was propping himself on his hands, then he started to try to drag himself forward with his arms only.Several face plants resulted from the discovery that he could get his legs involved, as he would gather his legs under himself and push, levering his body around his firmly planted arms and ending up with a mouthfull of carpet. Yesterday though he made the breakthough of only using he knees, and that was the trick. He’s still mastering it of course, but you can see a quick video Sue took here.

Mobile content entry

In case your wondering WTF? at this post, I got my hack of easyMoBlog working. I basically took thier script that monitors a POP email account to input the email into the Mambo tables. I also modified it to add the image to Gallery and create the proper IMG tag and line to the entry in the gallery. I would like to polish this up, add mosimage support and make an admin interface to make this a full blown component. Maybe someday I’ll find the time to do so.
